In the early game Tigers were too good for Rovers AFC.
The Tigers piled on 15 goals to six as they demolished their opponents 15.13 (104) to 6.3 (39).
That game was followed by a rematch of the 2017 grand final between Lake Nash and Buffs.
Buffs won the 2017 decider and there was to be no revenge for the Lake Nash team – now renamed back to Young Guns after a year of being the Lake Nash Bats.
Though the visitors from Alpurrurulam played gamely and led briefly in the second quarter, the premiers came back to record a strong victory by 26 points.
The final score Buffs 13.9.(87), Young Guns 9.7.61.
This weekend is Round 2 and the highlight will be the first game of the new side Dajarra Rhinos playing in their bright pink guernseys.
First bounce in their game against Young Guns is at 2.30pm. Tigers play Buffs in the other game.
