“I work as a Governess at Cubbaroo Downs and another showgirl entrant, Annie Henwood, also works here. She is a Jillaroo,” Ms Kennedy said.
“My boss said ‘I signed you up’, and at first I must admit, I was a little bit apprehensive.
“But then I thought what have I got to lose, and it’s fun. I love the experiences I am having.”
During May the Cloncurry and District Showgirl entrants attended a Deportment and Grooming Program.
As a Governess I get to experience a new way of learning and I realised that geographical circumstance shouldn’t hinder or limit or disadvantage us.

“I really enjoyed it – we learned social and dining etiquette and how to greet people properly as well as understanding the techniques of good grooming and how to present ourselves as Showgirls,” she said.
Learning has always been a strong influence in Ms Kennedy’s life.
“My ambition is to become a Primary School Teacher.”
“I’d like to teach children in the stages of early childhood, so I can encourage and support them to be who they want to be.”
After growing up in a rural town in New South Wales, Ms Kennedy completed her secondary education at St Scholastica's College in Glebe.
“I grew up on a cattle property so I love this Cloncurry lifestyle.
“As a Governess I get to experience a new way of learning and I realised that geographical circumstance shouldn’t hinder or limit or disadvantage us.”
Ms Kennedy is hoping to teach in regional Australia, as she believes all children should have the same educational opportunities.
When she is not working she enjoys participating in touch football, cross country, hockey, netball, soccer, volleyball and dance.
“Rugby Union is a major sporting interest in my life,” she said.
Ms Kennedy believes it would be a privilege to be successful in the 2018 Cloncurry & District Miss Showgirl.
“This competition helps to boost my confidence and self-esteem, as well as to become more involved in the community through events and meeting people.”
“The possibilities in regional and remote Australia especially here in Cloncurry have infinite potential,” Ms Kennedy said.
