Mount Isa City Council are giving you the opportunity to find out.
Entries are now open for the Mount Isa City Council’s “Scrap Metal Art” competition with $1500 in prize money up for grabs.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said budding artists are asked to capture the spirit of the Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.
“This is a special year for our iconic event and I expect scrap metal artists will have no shortage of inspiration for their unique creations,” said Cr McCulloch.
“Metal work is second nature to many people in our region and I am looking forward to see what they can do when they turn their hands to art.”
Junior sculptors aged 12 to 17 are competing for $500 in prize money. $1000 is on offer for the winner of the open section.
“The winners will be announced during Rodeo Week at the Isa Street Festival on the evening of Wednesday 8 August,” said Cr McCulloch.
Artists must be a resident of the Mount Isa region or live within regional or remote Queensland to enter the competition.
Sculptures need to be delivered to the western side of the Entertainment Centre at Buchanan Park between 26 July and 1 August 2018 for judging.
