After a three month trial period, players were selected for the U11, U12, U15 and U17 age groups.
U11s manager Bronwyn Munokoa said the team had great parent support.
“Parents and Mount Isa should be proud of how well we played and conducted ourselves. These girls are a must see at a club level and for years to come,” Ms Munokoa said.
They all get along like to best of friends and they played amazing. They were so graceful on court.

“This team were fortunate to have two coaches throughout their training Merilyn Harding and Danica Crebbin resulting in the U11 MIANA team placing first place in their division. To see them come together like they did at the carnival is amazing,” she said.
“They all get along like to best of friends and they played amazing. They were so graceful on court.
“For such a young and inexperienced team, it was great to see the girls stay positive and not drop their heads even once.”
The U12 age group also came first in their division.
Coach Isabel Webster and manager Hayley Drewe were very impressed with the overall result with Taryn Drewe being awarded MVP player of the game three times in the carnival and Amy Bailey receiving the award twice.
The U15 team was nominated into the very top pool of their age division and placed third overall out of the eight teams.
The U15 defensive players – Keili Eggmolesse, Sarah Wilson, Leila Kingal and Charlotte Coghlan worked tirelessly, winning many rebounds and picking off some spectacular intercepts from the opposition.
The girls on centre court – Amy Haddon, Amarah Body, Kyra Krutzfeldt and Myah Enoka, left their mark on the opposing teams, blocking their key players as well as shutting down impressive plays.
Shooters- Brianna Thirlwall and Kyeisha Derrick showed no signs of pressure as they sunk shot after shot, completing plays like true professionals.
The U17s were graded in the highest division and came third overall in the carnival.
U17’s coach Nikki Dalla Vecchia and manager Julie Hutchinson were very impressed with their endless positivity and enthusiasm, particularly with their empowering team cheer that was commented on by many at the carnival.
They demonstrated sportsmanship on and off the court, leading by example for the other age groups, and representing Mount Isa with true merit. The girls played incredibly well only losing one game and drawing one out of nine.
