The prestigious event will begin on Saturday, June 2 and run throughout the weekend.
Senior Community Worker Johanna Moore said the event is a must for all players.
“Cloncurry boasts one of the best playing surfaces and is one of the few world class grass surfaces left in Queensland,” Ms Moore said.
“There is $7000 prizemoney and the prestige of this title up for stakes.”
The tournament features six games of 18 ends with wins and margins deciding the winners from the rest of the field.
“A quality field has been invited to participate with current, past, state and national champions attending including Ashley Pardon,” she said.
World disabled pairs champion Ashley Pardon has imported a strong contingent of visiting players to improve on last year’s performance.
“Kevin Wehrman and Keith Edwards were last year’s champions and they have imported Queensland Super star and former Australian title holder Graeme Shillington to help defend their title hopes,” she said.
Shillington is a former Cloncurry local who is returning after a 30 year absence.
Local bowler Shawn Ryan returns to try his arm at the event once more with a talented team of local lads coming up against the two-times undefeated Damien McGee.
“McGee returned from an impressive display in the National 4 a side Completion held in Sydney on the weekend and has surrounded himself with talented and imported players from the Brisbane Powerhouse side from the Hamilton Bowls Club to improve on his past performances.
“Other players to watch are the extremely professional Longreach teams lead by Ray Harmsworth who rarely finish outside the top 4 teams. Ray is bringing with him a talented junior player Ty Jesberg and will be one of the favourites to take out the event.
“A Calcutta will be held on the Saturday night at 7:00pm to auction off the winning team so please come down and support your local club,” Ms Moore said.
Cloncurry Bowls Club would like to thank their Major Sponsors MMG, Cloncurry Shire Council, Cloncurry Smiths Transport, K and R Contracting and Oz E Cool for their continued support.
