A bump of 14.5 per cent compared with April last year.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills said momentum in Mount Isa continues to build, with an additional 2081 passengers passing through the airport this April, compared to the year prior.
“Mount Isa’s positive performance this month came on the back of added capacity on the Cairns route, and strong demand on Brisbane services,” Mr Mills said.
“Resource related activity in and around the region is again a contributing factor to this month’s success.”
QAL said 16,418 passed through the Mount Isa airport in April 2018, and 14,337 in April 2017.
Despite its popularity, the Mount Isa/Brisbane route is the worst in the country when it comes to arrival punctuality.
Data released in April, showed two in every five flights on the route arrive late with your chances of arriving late on Virgin rising to one in two.
Longreach Airport saw a 36.3 per cent increase which is thought to be attributed to the popularity of Winton’s Way Out West Fest last month.
Townsville Airport took a 1.9 per cent dip.
“We expected the dip in passenger numbers on the back of the cessation of Bali services in March and the change in timing of when Easter fell this year,” Mr Mills said.
