Students at St Joseph’s Catholic School Mount Isa could soon be hugging teddy bears as part of their lessons about our diggers on the Western Front and at Gallipoli.
School Principal Helen Wade said the national Bears to School is a novel way to help kids engage in lessons and events related to the Centenary of Anzac, and she is calling on people to help get bears into every classroom over coming months.
Great War bears are an engaging educational prop to support existing Centenary programs and future military history lessons, activities and commemorations.
Ms Wade said the bears donated to St Joseph’s Catholic School Mount Isa would be a valuable resource to the students in giving them greater understanding of the sacrifice made by Australian service men and women.
