A celebration of the royal kind will be held on Monday June 11 at 10.30am – 12.30 at the Mount Isa City Library on West Street.
Host Barry Byrne said the free morning tea is in celebration of the Queen’s 92nd birthday.
“Her real birthday is on April 21, however official public birthday celebrations happen in June,” Mr Byrne said.
The celebration will incorporate recognising the Queen’s coronation anniversary which took place on the June 2,1953.
A special cake will be cut by Mayor Joyce McCulloch and Mr Byrne that morning.
Mr Byrne said he would be sending correspondence to the Palace to mark the celebration of the Queen’s birthday.
As part of the celebrations Mr Byrne will donate two books to the library.
“The books date back to 1953 and they relate to the Queen’s coronation. They were sent to me by a lady from New South Wales.”
“At the morning tea I will donate these to the library.
“They go into the archives so people can come into the library and enjoy them but they can't take them from the library – they are in a delicate condition,” he said.
