Organisers of the Mount Isa Colour Run, Emma Harman and Rebekah Moore, collectively known as Pink Bitz, have passed on the baton to The Buffs Club to organise the annual Colour Run event.
The Buffs Club Marketing Manager Brooke Donnelly said we spoke to Emma Harman and she said she was trying to find someone to take it over so we jumped straight on board.
“We started The Buffs Squad because we want to be more active in the community, this way we can do more events, and not just provide financial aid to the community.”
Ms Donnelly said this year the fundraising fun run is called “Colours for Kids” and will be held on Sunday 15 July at 8.30am.
“It’s aimed more at kids with the money raised going to the Mount Isa Hospital Children’s ward.”
The event promises to be an entertaining family-orientated fun day.
“We already have two of our local sports clubs coming onboard to run some activities on the day and we’re looking at getting some food stalls signed up,” she said.
The five kilometre fun run will still be held at Lake Moondarra and tickets to the event are $25 for children aged between 5-12 and $35 for all ages above.
“You get a goodie bag with your tickets, however the children’s bag doesn’t have the powdered paint in it – parents will have to buy them on the day,” she said.
The event attracts all kinds of people, from serious runners and casual walkers to families and mum’s with babies but The Buffs Squad have somebody else coming along too.
“Big Buff is coming and he’s got a good arm when it comes to throwing paint.”
If you would like to volunteer to help on the day or would like to have a food stall for the event contact The Buffs Club for further details.
