Windscreen wipers were out in full force this afternoon as an unseasonable spat of rain greeted Mount Isa just before 2pm.
It has been about three months since a single drop has fallen over town.
The rain is expected to return tomorrow morning, with a chance of a thunderstorm developing.
The weekend is predicted to be sunny with tops of 21 and lows of eight degrees.
The traditional wet season returned to the region in March which brought heavy downpours across the north west.
