Ballard said some of Australia's best riders would have been available to trainer Bevan Johnson.
“To have the opportunity to ride in this special race is something I will be forever grateful for, so I extend a heartfelt thanks to them for their generosity and confidence in me,” Ballard said.
“The Battle of the Bush series has generated a great deal of interest in our regional areas and it will be a wonderful showcase of the quality of our country racehorses.”
Ballard congratulated the architects of the Battle of the Bush and Country Showcase series. “They have been a breath of fresh air for racing across the state,” he said.
Two local horses will be there, Bob Burow’s Galea Warrior who won the Mount Isa heat while Bev Foster’s Drinking Cocktails won the Cloncurry heat.
