The run invites teams of up to 10 people to run 100km in relays through the night from Duchess to Mount Isa in aid of charity.
Organiser Alison Whitehead from Gecko Outdoor Sports said it was a fantastic night at this year’s run although a little colder than previous years.
“With 12 teams and 90 runners, the event was the largest yet and will see substantial funds being donated to the North West Queensland Mental Health Network,” Ms Whitehead said.
Three checkpoints along the route were manned by volunteers from the North West Mental Health Network where teams got out of their cars, interacted with other teams and volunteers and participated in fun games.
After three years of competing, Telstra Toads finally took home a win and smashed the course record by almost 1 hour, finishing in 7 hours and 6 minutes, arriving at the campdraft ground finishing line in the early hours of Sunday.
Team tactics had the Toads running 2km stints to start, before dropping down to 1km and then 500m sprints as they got closer to the finish line.
On Through The Night finished in second place in a time of 8.21 beating their time from last year.
The ABC sponsored team, Chafing the Dream came home in third in 8.47.
