Amanda Corby, a former primary school teacher turned consultant, said different strategies could be used to engage all students, including those with Down’s syndrome, autism, intellectual impairments and developmental delays.
She and fellow Illume Learning education consultant Rachel Carr will share their techniques at the 2018 Diverse Learners Conference, to be hosted at Red Earth Hotel on August 14.
Illume Learning was set up by Ms Corby and Ms Carr to help teachers and carers understand more about helping learners with different needs.

The pair have toured Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney and Canberra but have kept Mount Isa and other regional towns on their schedule to help country kids.
“We think the needs of students in regional Queensland are the same as those in Brisbane,” she said.
“Mount Isa is one of our favourite destinations - the enthusiasm and commitment to student outcomes excites us every time we visit.”
Ms Corby said the conference had visited Mount Isa twice before, with a bigger venue organised this year due to popular demand.
Anyone who works with or cares for children can attend to find out more.
The welcome mat will be rolled out to teachers, teaching aides, parents, therapists and support workers.
Ms Corby said the conference was aimed at giving educators and carers strategies to teach reading, writing, mathematics and positive behaviour at school and at home.
Differentiated learning techniques would also be explored.
“The conference takes a really personal and practical approach,” Ms Corby said.
‘We love seeing parents and educators attend the conference together, (as they are) exposed to the same information and strategies, sharing light bulb moments and leaving with renewed energy and higher expectations for what their students can achieve.
“We also bring a range of specialised educational resources, including the new and exciting, Illume Reading program.”
Early bird prices, paid by June 30, are about $300 per person. Cheaper prices are available for pre-service teachers.
