Queensland Performing Arts Centre has announced Mount Isa will be one of eight Queensland cities to experience Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company’s exclusive performance of Don Quixote in Brisbane via a free simulcast, in the 2018 QPAC International Series program.
Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said Mount Isa would experience the special simulcast live from QPAC’s Lyric Theatre on Saturday November 10, at the Mount Isa Civic Centre.
“Simulcast audiences will see one of the world’s most renowned ballet companies perform a signature ballet with music played live by Queensland Symphony Orchestra, along with exclusive pre-performance content,” Minister Enoch said.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Mount Isa City Council were delighted to host the simulcast for the community and encouraged residents to take advantage of the world class performance.
“To experience a production by a company of this calibre is a fantastic opportunity for Mount Isa and it will be a magical evening at our very own Civic Centre as we watch the performance alongside those in Brisbane and other parts of Queensland,” Cr McCulloch said.

The performance of Don Quixote pays tribute to Rudolf Nureyev, marking the 80th anniversary of his birth this year and the 25th anniversary of his death.
Set to Ludwig Minkus’ magical score, audiences will be transported to a magical Spain replete with gypsy dances, fandangos, matadors and windmills.
Audiences will be enchanted by Teatro alla Scala Principal Dancer Nicoletta Manni partnering with superstar international guest artist Leonid Sarafanov, Principal Dancer at Mikhailovsky Theatre.
The live screening of Don Quixote will take place on Saturday November 10 from 6pm to 10.30pm at the Mount Isa Civic Centre, 23 West Street.
