After the Darwin Triple Crown event where Reynolds claimed a Sunday win, his Erebus Motorsport Holden ZB was prepared at the circuit for the Watpac Townsville 400 on July 6-8.
But rather than going back to the team's Melbourne base, the Erebus transporter headed from Darwin to Mount Isa.
The car is now on display at the Malouf Holden dealership showroom on Marian St with its Darwin Hidden Valley trophies.
Also on display in Mount Isa is the Peter Brock Trophy Reynolds won with Luke Youlden at Bathurst last October, the team having taken the trophy on a country-wide roadshow this year.
Dave Reynolds will make an appearance at Malouf Holden on Saturday (June 30) for a meet-and-greet with fans with a Q&A at the showrooms at 10am.
Paul Malouf said they had been sponsoring the car for three years but this was the year the team had come good following the Darwin win that took Reynolds to third in the V8 Supercar standings.
Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said they did the Mount Isa stopover last year and were always aiming to do it again.
“Mount Isa locals are invited to come down to Malouf Holden and see the car and Bathurst trophy,” Mr Ryan said.
“Dave will also be available to take customers for a test drive in the new Commodore.”
Mr Ryan said the Mount Isa stopover was something they did last year. “And we were always aiming to do it again this year,” he said.
Mr Ryan said they were lucky after the Darwin race.
“There wasn’t much to do on the cars and we were finished by Tuesday afternoon, cars loaded and on their way,” he said.
“Obviously, you make sure you’re equipped with everything you need to get through both events and always have a back-up plan, but we came out of Darwin reasonably well.
“We worked hard in that three-week period after Winton and now we’re able to have a bit of down time before heading into the back half of the season.”
The car can be viewed in the Malouf Showrooms any time during business hours.
