The 90-second clip shares the scenery and history of Cobbold Gorge in a ‘local invitation’ video, showcasing the unique tourism experiences of Outback Queensland to Brisbane visitors to explore the region.
The video and campaign is jointly funded by Tourism and Events Queensland and Outback Queensland Tourism Association.
TEQ CEO Leanne Coddington praised the Gorge video. “The way Simon describes ‘the sounds of silence’ and his feelings of wonderment and insignificance against the mammoth backdrop of nature compels viewers to get planning an Outback Queensland holiday,” Ms Coddington said.
“The striking scenery of the video – with the reds of the rocks, the dirt and the sunset, the lush greens of the Outback vegetation and the magnitude of space – is such a powerful demonstration of the feeling of freedom you experience when visiting Outback Queensland and that, combined with Simon’s evocative commentary, is certainly a strong motivator.
“Outback Queenslanders are known for their relaxed and friendly nature, and so this is such a genuine, Queensland approach to tourism marketing and visitors can expect more of that famous Queensland hospitality when they visit.
“Now more than ever word of mouth is a key source of holiday planning and our local invitation series makes the most of this trend, showcasing Queensland locals sharing their secrets and inviting travellers to explore their region,” Ms Coddington said.
OQTA General Manager Peter Homan said he was excited to showcase the rugged beauty of Outback Queensland with a global audience.
“The local invitation concept is perfectly suited to Outback Queensland because there are so many hidden gems for visitors to discover,” Mr Homan said.
“We hope content like this will encourage visitors to head west for their own authentic outback experience.”
