The difference between a scary experience as compared to a wondrous experience is simply the mindset of the person.

These wise words speak a mountain of truth from Eleanor Hammond – Psychic, Medium and three times published Author.
Recently I had the opportunity to interview Ms Hammond and I asked her some questions about her latest Tarot card and book release – My First Relationship Tarot deck and A Course in Tarot: In-Depth Training, Exercises, Questions with Answers – she explained:
“Tarot provides accurate insight into emotions, life events, relationships, career and money matters, family situations, and more.
“My First Relationship Tarot deck covers every aspect of life: work, friends and family, and of course, love.”
“It’s a follow-up to the My First Tarot divination system,” Eleanor said.
“This 78-card lighthearted, yet empowering look at Tarot concentrates on relationships. Each card gives eight situational meanings to ensure accuracy for comprehensive readings and a guidebook helps the learning process by giving deeper answers that will teach you to understand your relationships in ways not previously seen.”
“I took a different approach than other course books with A Course in Tarot: In-Depth Training, Exercises, Questions with Answers. This program instructs students to comprehend in simple terms where each Tarot card originates and how to make personal links to each card,” she said.
Ms Hammond explained everyone is at different learning stages in their journey of Tarot, the lessons cover the basics all the way through to the deepening influences for seasoned readers.
“Once you identify how to connect the 78-cards to your life, you will find that you’ve already experienced each circumstance described in the Tarot, which makes it simple to read the cards.”
The course book includes exercises, a reading look-up sheet, questions with answers, and even instructions on how to create your own deck.
Tell me about your interest in writing.
“I’ve always been a writer. I asked Mum for a typewriter on my ninth birthday and then thanked her for it by keeping her awake with my tap-tapping-ka-Ching! Who remembers that sound?
“I actually self published three times before I landed the metaphoric big fish in the writing world.
“I wrote and self published a shamanic soul retrieval book whilst completing my Masters in Metaphysics, as well as a tarot course book; unimaginatively entitled My First Tarot Course, and of course my deck; My First Tarot Deck,” she said.
Why did you pick this particular genre and how did you secure a traditional publisher?
“I’ve always had a profound interest in the spiritual and esoteric side of life, even before I found out about my Romany gypsy decent, and I’ve always been good at seeing processes that were missing and understanding people.
“When I took my tarot deck to the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Brisbane looking for distributors, I found one in Digby Bertram from Avalon Trading,” she explained.
“He said that my tarot deck design was revolutionary and invited me across the waters to the International New Age Trade Show in Denver Colorado to meet publishers.
“It was there that I met several publishers who became firm friends and I also met Chris McClure from Schiffer Publishing. I came home very excited and armed with a lot of contacts and then waited and waited for almost a year.”
“The publishing arena works slowly but finally, an adrenaline boosting email arrived from Chris and he asked me if I’d still be interested in doing a project with Schiffer Publishing. I think he heard me from the states when I shrieked in delight.”
A short year and a half later, Eleanor’s self published My First Tarot deck received an upgrade into a new and improved version, and was launched worldwide through Schiffer publishing.
What does the future hold for you?
“I’m looking forward to travelling next year on my Deck and Book tour, teaching tarot in workshops, and doing readings for people,” Eleanor said.
