The IsaRATS event on Sunday, July 22 gives competitors a 5km, 10km or half marathon runs, and a team event of up to 4 runners in the half marathon and the popular half marathon walk.
Registrations are climbing steadily, with the Half Marathon distance looking very popular this year and are open through isarats.com.au until midnight July 19.
IsaRATs president Richard Norris said with $1000 on offer for a new half marathon course record in men’s or women’s, it’s worth putting in some extra training and the success of Mount Isa parkrun shows there is plenty of interest. “With all the extra race experience the locals are getting every Saturday, we’re expecting to see big competition in the shorter distances,” Mr Norris said.
The IsaRATs are asking locals who aren’t racing to show support by volunteering on the day.
“We’re all volunteers that organise these events. It’s a great way to spend a morning. We need people to cut up fruit, hand out medals and cheer runners across the finish line. It makes a huge difference on the day,” Mr Norris said.
