It’s a festival to bring the town together and put Cloncurry on the map as a Australia’s home of professional rodeo entertainment seeped in honouring its heritage. 

2018’s festival is shaping up to get another feather in the caps of organisers in offering a plethora of entertainment for all ages, Merry Muster president Janessa Bidgood said. 

The biggest change will be a moving the program into three days. 

“The program has changed from Thursday night to Friday this year for the parade and Xtreme Bulls and we look forward to people being able to let loose with the weekend in front of them,” Ms Bidgood said.

The free events begin on 9.30am on Friday with the Teddy Bears Picnic. Kids are encouraged to dress their favourite teddy – in a rodeo outfit, of course – and join in a morning of free activities at Mary Kathleen Park. 

The highlight of Friday, however, will no doubt be the street parade which begins at 5.30pm ending at the Cloncurry Recreation Grounds. 

This year’s theme is ‘horsepower’ with floats expected to showcase some impressive creativity on the theme. 

With more than $1000 in prize money available across six float/ride categories, you will be sure to see some competition just as impressive as the riders in the arena.

From 7pm head to the MMG Xtreme Bulls. The competition will bring together the hardest bull riders in Australia. 

While the $9900 prizemoney is a draw card, riders will be after points. 

A win at Xtreme Bulls will go towards the rider’s APRA Championship points. 

On Friday evening you will be treated to live music from Chiko and the Breakaways at the Cloncurry Showgrounds.
