The company announced their latest copper assay results surface sampling in the existing Mining Lease Area at Mount Dromedary has confirmed high-grade copper occurrences of up to 16.85% copper.
Novonix said the high-grade copper ore, if extensive within the project area. may be of strategic interest in the battery materials and electric vehicle market supply strategy.
It said its next steps were to consider strategic partners for Mt Dromedary Battery Materials Project, continue investigations for scaling up to 200Ktpa graphite concentrate and further copper sampling and field-work to be conducted in the coming weeks to attempt to determine extent of the high-grade copper ore
In a project update dated July 26, Novonix (formerly known as GraphiteCorp) told investors they were an established brand in the rechargeable lithium-ion battery industry known for making the most accurate battery cell test equipment in the world used by leading battery, car and equipment makers and researchers.
Novonix said they were considering strategic partners to progress the Mt Dromedary Battery Materials Project which is north of Cloncurry off the Gleeson Rd towards Kajabbi.
“The Mining Lease Application in place for our world class flake graphite deposit with potential for high-grade copper deposit within the Mining Lease area,” the company said.
Novonix said the area contained 1.9Mt of graphite from 20 – 30% of known and expected mineralisation areas with a potential for up to 200Ktpa and a very low strip-ratio and good transport access to ports and markets.
The company said they had done extensive metallurgical testing to determine suitability for an export grade concentrate.
