Ms Wright is a Waanyi woman published in Australia and overseas and the award winning author of Carpentaria, the Swan Book, and Tracker.
Born in Cloncurry in 1950, Ms Wright has won the Miles Franklin award in 2006 for Carpentaria, a novel tells the interconnected stories of inhabitants of the fictional town of Desperance, situated on the Gulf of Carpentaria.
She also won the 2018 Stella Prize for Tracker, and is the only author to win both prestigious Australian literary awards.
In the Tuesday night talk with JCU’s Dr Roger Osbourne she will discuss her writing life and the way she and her books have been received overseas.
The lecture will be live streamed from Townsville to the JCU in Mount Isa on Tuesday August 7 at 6.30pm for 7pm start.
