All the Saturday action at the Mount Isa Rodeo

Everything is heading towards a thrilling conclusion of the Mount Isa Rodeo with the finals of the roughstock events today.

Another highlight today will be the international challenge between the eight discipline champions of the rodeo against their American counterparts.

Another huge crowd came in the gate on Saturday for the 60th anniversary rodeo.

We had a local winner when Cloncurry's Kolt Ferguson took out the 2nd div saddle bronc.

Tim Tate's 79.5 point ride was enough to secure the 2018 Isa Rodeo 2nd Division Bull Ride competition.

Jock Connolly took out the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo Over 40s Bull Ride with a cracking ride.

Kelsey Lenton won the junior barrels ahead of Maddison Caban and Halana Haber.

In the junior steer ride Ty Thompson was first with 133 points, Tejay Angland second with 132 points and Liam Welby third with 129 points.

And the rodeo may have found a star of the future with young Riley Schmidt who won the poddy ride with an assured performance then lapped up the applause from the crowd.
