Cloncurry is set to party in the first week of September when it celebrates its first ever Beat the Heat festival.

The festival will happen in alternate years to Winton’s biennial Outback Festival which will return in 2019.
The Cloncurry festival will feature a week of activities beginning Wednesday September 5 with a meet and greet at Cloncurry Unearthed visitor information centre and museum from 6pm.
On Day 2, Thursday September 6, Cloncurry State School hosts its fete from 5.30pm while there is also barefoot bowls from 6pm at the Bowls Club.
Friday September 7 sees a Curry Cook Off from 2pm at the Precinct with judging and public tasting at 6.30pm.
There will also be street party on Scarr St from 5.30pm.
This will be an evening of street stalls, food, bar, entertainment, a mine cart race with prizes to be won and live music featuring the talents of Kasey Chambers.
The fun continues Saturday September 8 with a parkrun 7am, the spring races at Schumacher Park from 11.30pm, a PCYC fight night at 5pm and an art show official opening at the gallery from 7pm.
On Sunday September 9 there will be an ecumenical church service at John Flynn Place Courtyard at a to be advised before the Chinaman Creek Dam comes alive from 9am to 2pm with markets, stalls and lots of water activities.
