Festival president Tony McGrady said the committee was a small group of enthusiastic live music supporters who wanted to promote live music in the city and support local entertainers.
In its life they organised major concerts featuring the likes of Troy Cassar Daly, Adam Brand, Adam Hervey, Kasey Chambers, Beccy Cole and The Wolverines backed up by local performers.
“Besides organising major concerts we have also organised smaller ones again providing the opportunity for our local entertainers to perform and to be paid for their work,” Mr McGrady said.
“We have also sponsored visiting music groups for organisations such as Young People Ahead as well as financially assisting The Shack from time to time and as recently as last weekend we sponsored the music at the Camooweal Drovers Camp Festival.”
The time has now come to wrap things up.
“Like many organisation we have taken stock of our situation and with heavy heart have decided for various reasons to cease our activities,” Mr McGrady said.
We have a healthy bank balance and we have decided to invite local not for profit organisations, school Bands as well as individuals to apply for funding for specific tasks or projects.”
Mr McGrady said the committee would prefer to assist projects aimed at assisting musicians but would be happy to look at all applications from any source.
The committee invites applications for one off grants with the applicants stating – a) the purpose of the grant, b) if it is for an organisation or an individual c) if the application is for an organisation, provide details of the organisation d) the amount of finance requested and e) provide any information to assist the Committee in making their decision.
Applications close on Monday September 10.
