After all the fun of Friday’s street party, Cloncurry’s inaugural Beat the Heat festival continues on Saturday and Sunday.

The Saturday fun starts with the weekly parkrun at 7am.

Parkrun is a 5km walk or run suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness run across Australia and Cloncurry’s one goes through some lovely tracks starting from Mary Kathleen Park.

Then from 11.30am the action moves to Schumacher Park as Cloncurry’s Spring Races swing into gear.

There will be a five race card plus fashions on the field.

On Saturday evening at 7pm the festival moves to Dr Harvey Sutton art gallery in the centre of town for the 45th Ernest Henry Memorial art contest.

On Sunday morning at 9am there will be an ecumenical service in St Colman’s Church and there will be dam day and markets at Chinaman Creek Dam Recreation Area with stalls and lots of water activities.
