Mount Isa local Rachel Wainwright, a team member for Racks from the Stack said the car goes on a truck next week and heads to Mildura.
“I’ll meet it there in two weeks with Rhiannon Young the other team member,” Ms Wainwright said.
Since its launch back in 2010, Shitbox Rally and it’s baby brother Mystery Box, have raised over $13 million for cancer research.
Mystery Box is the shorter journey.
“What happens after leaving Mildura is the‘mystery’ bit. The teams have no idea of where they are heading but they’re heading on a unique and fun adventure.
“It's a great cause and people have really gotten behind this. Everybody wants to tell Cancer where to go,” she said.
The two woman came up with the idea after losing a close friend to cancer.
“Recently, we lost a bloody good bloke and close friend, Mal Debney, to cancer so with his family's blessing we wanted to give the rally a red hot go in his honour.
“He was a rock solid presence to those who knew him and dependable as the day is long. I count the family he left behind as some of my nearest and dearest, and therefore he has become the inspiration behind my determination to take on this challenge,” she said.
Initially the team aimed to raise the $3 500 which was the prerequisite to enter the Rally however the support and community acknowledgment of the cause has seen their goal blow out to $12 500.
Ms Wainwright said they are planning on aiming for $15 000 by the end of the rally.
“We have lots more fundraising to do.”
Racks from the Stacks will be at BCF on Saturday morning October 6, then at the Overlander Hotel at lunchtime.
I’m very passionate about raising money for research into earlier detection of Pancreatic Cancer. I know of a few people who have died from Pancreatic Cancer and everytime they have had no idea until it's too late.
- Liz Debney
Liz Debney, Mal’s wife, said it’s a great tribute to Mal.
“He’d be very excited if he was still with us, he was a Nissan fan and the car they will be travelling in is a Nissan Exa and they named it after his favourite horse – Nugget,” Mrs Debney said.
“Mal’s cancer was sudden, unexpected and aggressive, he didn't get a chance to fight. He would of if he had a chance.

All money raised goes to Cancer Council and then from there it flows out to all the different research groups through grant applications.
Mrs Dedney said Mal would be horrified to know his photo was being seen everywhere but he’d be secretly chuffed.
