Parkside womens won the minor premiership with a convincing 42 points, Cloncurry trailed on 24 points.

Cloncurry put in their best effort in the preliminary final last weekend but were ultimately defeated by Sandfire Bulls.

The womens A grand final will be played at 8pm Friday September 14 between Parkside and Sandfire Bulls. 

The B grade final will see Cloncurry take on Concordia at 6:30pm Friday.

Frank Lawler

Parkside Women’s Football team will be looking for a clean sweep this Friday when they take on Sandfire Bulls in the A grand final.

Parkside have already won the Mount Isa Cup and Minor Premiership.

The team was strengthened this year with the inclusion of Learlin Richards, Ellen Bos, Jess Neil and Amy Page to an already strong team.

With players such as Lisa Biondi, Gabbi, Chelsea and the club stalwart and captain Kerrie Dempsey the team has gone from strength to strength.

The team had one loss this year where they were only able to field seven players.

With a full strength team to pick from Coach Frank Lawler is confident that his charges will prevail and come away with a win although the Bulls will fight all the way to the end.

The team is one of the best teams he has coached over the years and on their day are unbeatable. It they turn up ready to play it may be a long night for the Bulls. Parkside will play the Bulls with an 8pm kick-off.

Clinton Ah-One

Grand finals is a pretty exciting time of the year it’s what all the teams play for, we the Sandfire Bulls go in with the underdogs tag, our players know we have a tough game ahead of us on Friday night coming up against the minor premieres Parkside, I guess the victory will be more sweeter if you get the win.

Parkside have been dominating the local comp for the last couple of seasons they’ll hard to beat and definitely turning up to play.

I believe the dominance is because of their committed core players, these experienced players guide their juniors and have played consistently, not to forget the inclusion of their experienced coach Frank Lawler he’s helped make their team play a stronger passing game and they’ve gone to another level.

Sandfire Bulls have struggled a bit at the start of the season losing a fair few players, although we have gained a few towards the end of season, the mix of players some experienced, new and juniors, the challenge has been there to get them all to gel.

Our goal keeper Jalisa Ah-One is new to the position, she’s come a long way since the beginning of the season, gaining confidence in every game, shell give her best.

The defence is as strong as it can be, players to watch out for are Juanita Doyle, Susan Dempsey, and junior player Cherise Saltmere.

Our mid fielders Nakita Daley and Dyna Aplin they can change a game and cause some havoc amongst the Parkside defence, and strikers Shelwyn Chong and Cheryl Perez know how to find the back of the net.

The opportunity is there, we have a number of attacking players who proven themselves that they can finish, It depends on who turns up to play.

Danielle Slade 

Concordia Football Club’s Women’s Team, Tigers are heading into the B Grade Final this weekend against Cloncurry. 

I believe this will be a great game, as Cloncurry have been on fire this season and have proved they can’t be taken lightly. 

We will be depending on the captaincy of Loz Jamieson to keep the team on track.  We need to do the simple things well.

We have a lot of players that can interchange very easily between positions, Tayler McMillan, Rachel Baker, Andrea Skinner and Sharon Voss.  Tigers have some very fast paced players with Anna Cunningham, Kate Andrews and Josie Watt.

Lisa McCulloch who is the Tigers Goal Keeper will be looking to the Tigers defenders Elle Wheeler, Nat Blyth and Maree Grogan for heaps of support tonight. 

Under the coaching of Brendan Voss, we’ve improved so many aspects of our game this season and even though we have 5 players unable to play tonight, we will still be showing some great football on the pitch.

Cloncurry were probably unlucky not to have got into the A Grade Grand Final this season, so we are really looking forward to a hard fought game with them.

Riki Fulton

In their second season the Cloncurry Ladies team has gone from bottom of the ladder to finish second.

They have played some good football and have scored plenty of goals, 34 in total.

A big increase from last year’s one goal.

As well as pride in their playing performances they can be proud of their great sportsmanship, lending an opposition team two players when they turned up without a full team.

As with the transient and shift working nature of Cloncurry we have had to cope with the loss of players throughout the season and this is noticeable in the finals series.

This year has been highly successful and we look forward to building on it next season.
