A grassfire broke out in a riverbed past the Isa Street Bridge towards 23rd Avenue, just before 3pm Monday afternoon.
Fire crews were quick on the scene and have controlled the blaze. They say nobody was injured.
Police are diverting traffic away from the Isa Street Bridge.
Meanwhile just last night, a Mount Isa family escaped unharmed after their home went up in flames just before 6pm.
Fire and Emergency crews attended the blaze which broke out at the Fouth Avenue home.
The house was extensively damaged.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire, but say it is not suspicious.
