Porters Lawyers is searching for information from past students, teachers and altar boys from St Kieran’s Christian Brothers College Mount Isa.
St Kieran’s Christian Brothers College was an all-boys high school from 1960 until 1985 when it merged with San Jose College for girls to form Mount Isa Catholic High School (now named Good Shepherd).
“Porters Lawyers act for a number of victims who were sexually and physically abused at St Kieran’s Christian Brothers college Mount Isa between 1974 to 1995,” a spokeswoman from the firm said.
“These victims were children at the time of their abuse.
“Porters Lawyers wishes to speak to any former employees, parish members, altar boys, students or members of the community that were involved with or attended St Kieran’s Christian Brothers College Mount Isa,” she said.
“This is to obtain further evidence that will assist our clients in their claims.”
Mount Isa has a dark history of child sex abuse within the local parish.
Father Neville Joseph Creen pleaded guilty in court in 2003 to sexually touching 20 young girls while he was priest at the Good Shepherd parish between 1973 and 1981.
The girls, aged between five and 13 at the time, were pupils at Catholic schools.
Creen served 14 months in prison with the remainder of his sentence suspended for four years.
The Catholic Diocese of Townsville now has a safeguarding coordinator to uphold professional integrity of clergy.
