The sessions will be run by People with Disability Australia, a national disability rights, advocacy and representative organisation that is made up of, led and governed by people with disability.
The NDIS is being rolled out across Queensland and Mount Isa was one of the first to get it.
“The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a big change in how people with disability get the essential supports they need,” said Frances Quan Farrant, Senior Policy and Research Officer, PWDA.
“This essential information session will cover how to make an NDIS plan so that it gives you the support you need. In addition, sometimes, a person’s plan isn’t right, and doesn’t meet their needs.

“This session will give you information on how to appeal.”
PWDA is running NDIS planning and appeals information sessions across NSW and Queensland this year.
Ms Quan Farrant said the NDIS planning and appeals processes could be difficult to navigate.
“These sessions will provide up to date information on how to get your plan right for you,” she said
“PWDA brings together our expertise from many years of advocacy around the NDIS, and our strong experience in training on disability issues.
“We are campaigning to make sure that people with disability have true choice and control in every step of the NDIS process, from access, to planning and using their supports, and that the NDIS is the vital piece of social infrastructure it was always supposed to be.
She urged people to come along on 10 October to find out how to get lots of information on making sure that the NDIS is working for you.”
The NDIS planning and appeals information session will be held between 10:30am and 1pm at Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre, 72 Marian St.
