The Mount Isa Rodeo Series Finals will buck off at 6pm at Buchanan Park on October 13.
Organisers say it will be a spectacular evening full of rodeo action with the best cowboys and cowgirls in north west Queensland competing for trophies and buckles.
Rodeo series president Mark Thompson said more than 1000 people flocked through the gates for last year’s inaugural finals.
“Last year was the first year we ran it and we just had a DJ, this year we have a band coming in from Mackay,” Mr Thompson said.
“It will be a full rodeo with 13 events all up so we will have a fair few competitors, more than 100.
“It will be an action packed rodeo with all the best competitors from north west Queensland so there should be a lot of talented cowboys from juniors right through to seniors.”
The crowd will be kept entertained by the musical delights of Luke Geiger and the Bareback Band who will be rocking the ring until 1am and there will be food stalls and bars packed with drinks.
The evening will be jammed packed with classic rodeo events like barrel racing, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, steer undecorating and of course the bullride.
Gates will swing open from 5pm with all the action in the ring getting started from 6pm.
Entry is $20 for adults and $5 for kids – if you are under 10 entry is free.
If you are keen to compete you can contact the rodeo at mountisarodeoseries@gmail.com or via their Facebook page.
Nominations are $100 for open events and $50 for the juniors and close at 5pm on October 12.
