Fight night organiser Michael New said the AMMA-sanctioned night would feature boxing and muay thai contests.
“We’ve got eight fights lined up plus we’ve got a few junior exhibition boxing rounds at the start of the night,” Mr New said.
Mr New said that for the main bout Mount Isa was in for a treat.
“We’ve got the current WMC Queensland champion Mark Anthony Solomon and also the WKA Far North Queensland champion Joseph Gabiola, they will fight under full thai rules,” he said.
Mr New has engaged local club Golden Oaks Boxing gym and New Nation fitness to provide local fighters.
“We’ve also got fighters coming in from Corporate Box Valley Gym in Brisbane, Courage Training Centre in Townsville and Destination Fitness in Cairns,” he said.
Mr New said he lived in Mount Isa for 12 years and used to fight semi pro in muay thai and also fought in boxing and MMA fights.
“While I based myself here, I always had to travel for fights so wanted to expose the local talent that we do have and give them the opportunity to perform on the stage without the expense of having to travel miles away,” he said.
Mr New thanked Mount Isa Isuzu Ute for being the major sponsor for the night and said partial proceeds would be donated to local charity Paws, Hoofs and Claws.
Doors open at the Mount Isa Irish Club at 6pm with the first bout at 6.30pm.
Discounted tickets are available pre-sale at reception or can be purchased on the door.
The Kalkatunga dancers will be on hand to do a welcome to country dance at the start of the night.
