In 2014 we had 100 years since the start of the war.
In 2015 it was the Gallipoli anniversary.
In 2016 we commemorated the Somme and other Western Front battles.
In 2017 it was Bullecourt, Messines, Passchendaele and Beersheba.
Now finally in 2018 we have one hundred years since the end of the war to end all wars.
Armistice Day is commemorated every year on November 11 to mark the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany to cease hostilities on the Western Front on “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.
To mark the century year, the Mount Isa RSL Sub-Branch is holding a formal dinner and the public is invited.
The dinner will be held a couple of days before Remembrance Day at the Buff’s Club on Friday, November 9
The dinner is restricted to 200 tickets so to reserve your place head down to the Buff’s Club reception before October 29.
Mount Isa Sub-Branch RSL secretary Paul Robertson said it promised to be a great night.

“There will also be live entertainment from Dave Whitehead in a three piece band,” he said.

The night has a 6pm start at the Billabong Lounge.
It will feature canapes, a two-course meal, table wine and sherry and port for the toast and costs $65 a head.
Then on Sunday, November 11 the Mount Isa Cenotaph will be the focus for Remembrance Day will a big crowd anticipated to turn up for the 100th anniversary.
