Never mind Harry and Meghan, North West Qld’s own racing royalty Tanya Parry added the Mount Isa races Les Huddy Memorial Bracelet (1200m) to her Trainer of the Year crown.

Horse of the Year Wicked Wiki with Jockey of the Year Dan Ballard held off stablemate World Of Pain. The pair are like Tango and Cash - where there is one there is the other. They have raced together their past four starts with two wins a piece. Parry has unlocked the secret to their success.
It was Wicked Wiki’s 10th win and ninth in 12 months. World of Pain also has 10 wins with two in the past two weeks.
Favourite Beaudragon, Wicked Wiki and Regal Conserve vied for the lead but Wicked Wiki opened up a three length gap at the 400. Beaudragon went backwards and Regal Conserve came on but World Of Pain issued the challenge. The two went head for head down the straight but a bad dip at the start cost World Of Pain as Wicked Wiki got up by a long head with Regal Conserve three lengths third.
Deadly Choices’ win in the CNW Class 3 Plate (1200m) was as impressive as Usain Bolt. “He has great cruising speed and can kick from there.” Dan Ballard said.
Deadly Choices took control from Five Spices and Senseofwonder leaving the back straight with Two Of A Kind stalking. Senseofwonder couldn’t go on and Deadly Choices and Five Spices hit the straight together. Just as the crowd got interested the contest was over with Deadly Choices having more up his sleeve then David Copperfield. He powered away for a four length win from Five Spices with Denlago coming from as far back as the 20th century to claim third.
Jason Babarovich collected a double starting with the Steejo Press Benchmark 50 Handicap (1000m). Alpha Stryke and Zooks led out from She’s Sharp As, Messines Rose and Sirtime with Eschelon Rose catching up.
At the 400 the three Denise Ballard runners Alpha Stryke, Sirtime and She’s Sharp As led with the two roses, Eschelon and Messines, joining the battle. Sirtime kicked away but the long-striding Eschelon Rose found his groove to win by half a length with Messines Rose two lengths third.
Babarovich’s also won the Welcome To New Committee Maiden Plate (1100m) on George Tipping’s Ima Pocket Rocket. Romani Star led early with Ima Pocket Rocket then Dutch Twist, Eynhallow and Flossy close by.
Roani Star led early from Flossy with Ima Pocket Rocket in the box seat and Eynhallow ready to pounce. Flossy led into the straight from Romani Star but Ima Pocket Rocket took the lead as Flossy refused to yield.
Hammer and tongs they went at it until Ima Pocket Rocket dived on the line to steal it by a head.
NSW country galloper was Zizangga Zou two and a half lengths third.
Tradies Day opened with the Thanks For All Your Hard Work Previous Committee BenchMark 65 Handicap (1450m). Trainer Justin Bawden may have cut off his flowing locks but unlike Samson he has kept his strength with favourite Mandalong Pass providing the up and coming trainer with more success.
After downing Deadly Choices in the Lord Derby Mandalong Pass was a heavy favourite and pushed up after the start to lead from stablemates Going Grey and Onehundredclicks. Entering the back straight Going Grey took up the running from Admiral Ruff and Onehundredclicks with Mandalong Pass tucking in behind them.
Video Show joined Mandalong Pass behind the Parry trio until the 400 when Onehundredclicks moved ahead. Going Grey and Admiral Ruff were quickly claimed by Mandalong Pass and Video Show but while the favourite kept going Video Show wilted as did Onehundredclicks.
Mandalong Pass was three and a quarter lengths too good for Onehundredclicks and a further length and a half for Admiral Ruff.
