Owner and Melbourne-based pharmacist Daniel Eskander traveled to the remote town at the beginning of the month for the officially opening of the Julia Creek Pharmacy.
“There hasn't been a pharmacy in Julia Creek for many decades and I like to invest in remote and rural towns especially ones such as this,” Mr Eskander said.
“The pharmacy compliments the health care already set up in the town; there’s a hospital and a doctors surgery,” he said.
Mr Eskander has other pharmacies in remote Queensland, NSW and Victoria.
"It's pretty rare these days to find a town as developed as Julia Creek not to have a pharmacy," he said.
“I visited here before we opened the shop and it’s quite a busy town.”
Previous to the pharmacy opening locals and station owners would get there medications mailed to them or endure a road trip of 120km one way to the nearest pharmacy.
The pharmacy provides services such as webster packing, and quality ranges of bioceutical vitamins, cosmetic lines, caruso vitamins and will build on these lines in the lead up to Christmas.
