Good Shepherd Catholic College celebrated another big year of achievement at its annual awards night at the Civic Centre on Wednesday night.

Good Shepherd Principal Peter Scott said in his address their role as teachers was provide support and to lay the foundations for their students to grow as people.
“At Good Shepherd we work hard for the young people in our care,” Mr Scott said.
“We know it’s not only about education, but it’s also about pastoral care.”
Mary-Ellen Pattinson from the Townsville Catholic Education Office congratulated the school community for another excellent year in partnership with the junior schools in the district, St Kierans, St Josephs (Mount Isa) and St Joseph’s (Cloncurry).
Bishop of Townsville Tim Harris was also there. He was on stage presenting an award when the 8pm mine blast occurred and admitted it shocked him though not the locals who were well used to it. “I need to come to Mount Isa more often,” he joked.
The large audience was entertained by the Rock Pop Mime routines and by the vocal emsembles and senior vocal duet.
