Boot Brisbane wants to see North Queensland split from the south to create a separate state.
The non-partisan group is rallying grassroot support across the north, for a separate state referendum.
Boot Brisbane’s Matt Moloney is hoping to form a branch in Mount Isa.
“We no longer really have adequate representation on issues that affect us and we don’t control where our wealth goes. Its not unreasonable for people to expect precision in decisions,” Mr Moloney said.
“Why should people in Brisbane, who have no idea of what our conditions are like and the difficulties we face, dictate and decide issues that don’t affect them like water security and drought proofing.”
The forum will be held at the Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre on Marian Street at 6:30 November 1.
Earlier this year a KAP request for modest funding from the State Labor government to form a study group to examine the creation of NQ State was denied.
