Derby Day on Saturday November 3 is set to be a show stopper with major prize money up for grabs for both fashion and racing entrants.
The nationally recognised black and white themed racing event will mirror the action of their Victorian Derby Day counterparts in true North West fashion, bringing the glitz and glamour to Schumacher Park, Cloncurry.
Race goers are encouraged to wear their best black and white attire to have their chance at being crowned ‘Best dressed.’
Cloncurry Race Club president Luke Daniels said the Derby Day was always a big crowd pleaser and a local favourite as it will be the last meet of the year.
“There is $3500 in cash prizes up for grabs for the ‘Fashion on the Field’ entrants,” Mr Daniels said.
“We recognise the costs and effort that goes into the fashions and to make sure we keep encouraging a high standard we’ve increased our prize money significantly for Derby Day.

Mr Daniels said those considering entering in the Black Toyota Fashions on the field would need to be dressed, strictly black and white.
Fashion categories include Contemporary Ladies, Classic Ladies and Gentlemen, Millinery, Couples and Children.
On the track Schumacher Park will host 5 horse races, with $35,000 in prize money.
To allow racegoers to party on into the afternoon, there will be live music to get the heels tapping after the races have ended and a community bus doing the loops from town to the track from noon onwards.
Entry to the bus is by a gold coin donation.
The family friendly event will host a children’s lolly drop for and there is a fantastic playground at the racecourse.
Bookies and food stalls will all also be on hand.
Gates at Schumacher Park open for the five race meet at 11:30am with members and kids under 15 free and $10 entry for adults.
