The Kmart Wishing Tree is a joint initiative between the Salvation Army and Kmart, that asks locals to donate a gift that will be delivered to Mount Isa families in need during the holidays.
This is the 31st year K Mart and the Salvation Army have coordinated the National appeal.
This year, the appeal encourages those contributing to give a practical gift that will help people in need all year round.
Kmart Wishing Tree Champion Liza Dowler said it is our way of helping the local community.
“What happens is we encourage our customers to come in, purchase a gift in-store or bring a donation and put it under the Christmas tree,” Ms Dowler said.
“All the presents under the Wishing Tree are collected by the Salvation Army and go specifically to families in the local Mount Isa community.”
Ms Dowler said they would appreciate any gift customers are willing to give.
The launch will be a merry occasion with cake and morning tea.
