Stay at home
I suspect that there will be much joy in the lounge rooms and kitchens of the homes of Mount Isa citizens at the news that our Mayor and her Deputy have just returned home after attending a conference in Adelaide, South Australia hosted by the Australian Geoscience Council.

Not much change is left out of $6000 but that is another matter and will be dealt with on another occasion.
Listening and reading the comments from the Mayor and her Councillors they are engaging in the oldest trick in the political book, that is, “Tell a lie often enough and some people will believe it”.
I refer to this campaign which they have embarked upon namely the Waste Levy.
The Mayor and Her Council are in so much political strife and trouble in their home City that they are trying to divert attention away from the numerous problems and concentrate on playing the blame game.
They are claiming that the new Waste Levy, introduced by the State Government, will add hundreds of dollars to the Mount Isa rate bills despite the fact that the Minister has stated many times that the Mount Isa City Council will be reimbursed 105% of all associated costs with this scheme but the Mayor and her Councillors continue to peddle the same old lines.
Please Madam Mayor, try to be a leader and take advantage of opportunities that can create many much, needed jobs in our City.
Sit down with the Minister and her staff and establish the number of jobs that can be created in our City as a result of an expanded re-cycling industry.
Talk to the existing business houses and in the interests of this City, stay at home, forget about your frequent flyer points or better still move over and let somebody who really has leadership qualities take over the affairs of our City.

Pausing to commemorate Remembrance Day
Sunday was Remembrance Day.
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, Australians around the country paused to remember.
We remember those that served in the First World War before the guns fell silent on the Western Front at 11am on 11 November 1918.
We remember all those who have served Australia in all armed conflicts across the world.
We pause to remember for those past and present that have fought for Australia.
