Bureau of Meterology meteorologist Lachlan Stoney said the same weather system which brought rain to the region earlier this week remains active.
“This is triggering isolated showers to some locations,” he said.
Unfortunately because the system is so isolated, Lachlan said it’s really ‘the luck of the draw’ as to which locations will receive rain, if at all.
On Friday, November 16 there was a slight chance of rain predicted for Mount Isa and Cloncurry. Lachlan said there was a better chance of showers hitting locations north of Mount Isa.
Lachlan said on Saturday and Sunday conditions were likely to remain much the same.
On Saturday, November 17 Mount Isa is predicted to have a slight (30 per cent) chance of a shower in the late morning and afternoon. There is also a chance of a thunderstorm in the late morning and afternoon.
Lachlan said there is a better chance rain will fall in Mount Isa on Sunday.
Temperatures for both days remains in the high 30s.
Lachlan said temperatures are predicted to drop from Sunday and will sit around the mid to high 30s for the start of the week.
“Generally there’s a bit more cloud around which is resulting in that drop in temperature,” he said.
