It was a nail-biting end to the T20 Cricket competition when the defending Premiers Blackstars met the Cavaliers at Captain Cook oval on Saturday morning, with the underdogs, taking home the trophy by just two runs.

The final scoreboard reflected the closeness of the match - 7/124 Cavaliers and 8/122 Blackstars
The win for the Cavaliers broke the drought of six years with out winning a T20 Premiership.
Captain, Jason Wellington said their strong point before coming into the game was their catches.
“We needed to field a lot better, and that’s really what won us the game,” he said.
Wellington said one of the key players was John Fitzgerald.
“His batting skills got us into a good position at the start.”
Fitzgerald scored an impressive 32 runs from smashing four Fours, and one Six around the field.
With just four overs left the Cavs needed 44 runs to win and as they chipped away at the total it came down to the last ball with two runs to win.
Wellington said C. Moon was facing the bowler and hit it for a Four.
President of the Mount Isa Cricket Association David Wellington said Blackstars have been a constant for many years.

“There has always been a tense rivalry between these two teams, even back in my day,” David Wellington said..
The Cavaliers team is a young team of players rebuilding the club.
“This was a big win for them and hopefully it spurs them on.”
“It’s good to see the young players rebuilding the club and having a go.
“We’ve had some quality teams in play this season,” he said.
After winning the toss Blackstars elected to bat first.
Captain Cam Conlan said the Cavs did a pretty good job on their top order.
“It was a low scoring game, they limited us to 122, but we defended it good enough until the last two overs,” he said.
The top scorer for the Blackstars was B. Spooner on 27 runs before getting caught out and A. Cullis.was also caught out on 26.
“Credit to the Cavs, they played really well,” Conlan said.
The Mount Isa Cricket Association begin there MICC 40 over competition on Saturday 25 November with a match between Panthers and Blackstars at Sunset oval and Western Bulls and Cavalier at Captain Cook oval.
