In this competition, male and female powerlifter’s come together to defy the gods and show the strength of Hercules.
Jones said registration is still open for the contest.
“You can sign up on the day as well, it’s $25,” Jones said.
Women compete at the same time as the men, but in different divisions.
The men's division are split into under 100kg and over 100kg, and the women’s division is divided in two by experience level.
This time around the favourite woman and men’s title is “up in the air.”
“We had some ladies relocate outside of Mount Isa and will not be competing so for the ladies it’s anyone’s to take.”
“There is Ryu Watanabe and Robert Hammermeister, both are light weight and very strong. Ryu has been training with Mount Isa Strongman since early 2017 and every contest comes in stronger. I think he’s the sleeping dragon,” Jones said.
“There are also a few new men competing that I don’t know about. They could come in with heavier lifts than all of us.”
Trophies will be awarded for the heaviest bench press and deadlift, heaviest overall total, light and heavy weight winners and overall winner.
Lifting starts at 10am but registrations and weigh ins begin at *am..
