Keas Coach Steve Cooper said due to shift work they started the match with just 13 players.
“We scraped up 13 players and a couple of others showed up later on,” Cooper said.
As a team coach Cooper said they had been working on structures for the game but due to shift work it was hard to implement it on the night.
“By the end of the game we had one player on the bench.”
Even with less players, the team were the first across the line, scoring a try 15 minutes into the game.
Fullback Lance Cope scored two tries on the night.
“All our tries come from a team effort but Cope usually plays Centre so he put in an outstanding effort,” Cooper said.
“It was a tough game, we go into the competition expecting tough games from all the teams.”
The last time Keas met Cloncurry was back in the first game of the season where Cloncurry won the match.
“They are definitely not a team we take lightly, that’s for sure.
If I had my way I would have had a full 15 player squad. The players are expected to play a full 80 minutes on the field, and that’s a hard thing to do,” he said.
Keas sustained some injuries during the match but coach Cooper said they were just minor ones.
