The event coincided with the Mount Isa School of the Air activity day and end of year school celebrations.
Around 110 families travelled to Mount Isa for their children to participate in various sports each day.
They also experienced the enjoyment of being a part of a team, something they don’t get to do on a regular basis due to their home location.

The children choose from an assortment of sports.
Cricket, gymnastics, basketball, dance, swimming, netball, touch football, soccer, rugby league, tennis, rugby union and a session on sports awareness.
ICPA MIBOTA President Sancia Fegan said the youth participated in skill development sessions throughout the week as well.
“They also experienced the enjoyment of being a part of a team, something they don’t get to do on a regular basis due to their home location.”
The Mount Isa School of the Air was not the only campus involved and supported by the Sports for Bush Kids sports coaching.
St Hilda’s School in Southport, Toowoomba Grammar School, Dan Kearney - Queensland Cricket, NBN and various sporting organisations in Mount Isa helped.
Sports for Bush Kids began in 1998 as a swimming program.
“It has now evolved into an intensive week of sports coaching to enable remote children to gain skills in team sports and swimming prior to going to boarding school,” Fegan said.
“It is also an opportunity for younger children to begin their journey of access to sport and get to know the School of the Air.”.
“The SFBK committee under the guidance of Mrs Shelly Hawkins have ensured that this years’ event was a successful one.
“The Isolated Childrens’ Parents Association and Mount Isa Branch of the Air are looking forward to organising and celebrating their 21st year in 2019,” she said.
Mount Isa School of the Air is one of seven schools of distance education in Queensland.
The currently cater for students from e-Kindy to Year 10.
The school term for Queensland schools commences on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
