During the lead up to Christmas, one particular elf has been popping up in different places around the city to keep children and adults from misbehaving because on Christmas Eve, all the scout elves leave to report to Santa.

However, in some homes and businesses, its not just the humans who get into mischief, its the elves as well.

Elders Insurance Mount Isa have had a scout elf magically appear with an extraordinary quest to fulfill.

Unlike the other elves his task is to visit different businesses in Mount Isa to promote and share Christmas spirit and also to make people aware that unexpected accidents can happen over the Christmas period.

Manager Mary-Jane Caldwell said Elroy the elf visited the Mount Isa Cinema, Xtra Mile, the Mount Isa City Library, LJ Hooker, Jays Real Estate, and City and Country.

“It’s our way of spreading the fun of Christmas cheer and spirit, along with making people aware that accidents can happen over Christmas,” Ms Caldwell said.

“For instance Elroy might make travellers aware of roll bars or to wear a helmet while riding, so whilst he is naughty doing those things its for a good reason – to make people mindful,” she said.

Mary-Jane Caldwell said their elf had been reasonably good at it until he put her on the naughty list.

The local business woman believes she was very good in the lead up to Christmas, but had second thoughts after admitting she made her staff work too hard on decorating the premises window.

“I guess I’ve been a bit of a tough task master,” she lamented.

Ms Caldwell said with Christmas the more fun you put into it, the more Christmas spirit you get out of it.
