In September Qantas announced they were bringing back their Boeing 737 aircraft to the Mount Isa-Brisbane route from December 1 but at the same time removing afternoon flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, causing a lot of angst from people who can now no longer meet connecting flights.
Now Qantas said weekday flights between Brisbane and Isa will return to a double-daily service “in response to community feedback”, operated by QantasLink’s 125-seat Boeing 717 aircraft, increasing the weekly return services from 9 to 13.
Qantas Domestic CEO Andrew David said the changes would create more options for the growing number of travellers visiting key destinations in Queensland with additional flights out of Cairns and the Sunshine Coast.
“We’ve responded to feedback from customers, industry and community leaders by adding more flights and offering more choice on the routes where we know customers want to travel,” Mr David said.
