The Goldfield Ashes will be held on the Australia Day weekend in Charters Towers.
Mount Isa’s Cavaliers will be one of 200 cricket teams who will travel across the state to enter in the annual competition held from 26-28 of January.
Team skipper, Jason Wellington, said the Cavaliers hoped to win their three games while enjoying the weekend.
The event is as competitive as it is social.
Last years event was the most successful Goldfield Ashes, with about 240 teams participating in the three day event.
Charters Towers Cricket Association President Craig McAlister said there wasn’t a spare pitch in town.
