Feral Bitches Inland (FBI) have entered in the cricket competition now for more then 18 years and continue to support the event by returning annually.
FBI coach Bev Peters they will compete against 18 other ladies teams, which was the highest amount of teams she had seen in the competition.
“The most I had seen was 10 or 12 but this year due to numbers they have had to change the format from 35 over games to T20 games,” she said.
“This is simply due to the demand of fields with 246 teams in the whole competition.
“It is pretty mad, you drive out to the airport and there are just fields of people playing cricket everywhere.”
Ms Peters said they would play three games ans hoped to make the finals.
“We have won and also come runner up a few times over the years.
“Last year we won all three of our games but didn’t win the competition as we fell short by 50 runs and one wicket.

“Because the women’s competition is just one division, you’ve really got to get there and get as many runs and wickets as you can to gain points.”
Ms Peters said despite all being in an older age bracket they were a highly competitive team.
“The majority of our team is older with an average of about 45.
“We are a competitive and social team. We like to have fun with the other girls but there is some rivalry with other teams also.
“We keep going back because we love going over socially and catching up with all the other female teams we have competed against over the last 18 years.
“The FBI girls also support the other Mount Isa team entered in the competition. Once we finish our games we head down to the boys games and cheer them on too. This year we will be supporting the Mount Isa Cavaliers.
“The best part of the Ashes is when we have a themed dress up night. We’ve had themes like fluro, Hawaiian and this year it is Disco.
“The Gold Field Ashes was a great weekend and filled with great atmosphere.”
