Willing participants have the opportunity to learn training and coaching techniques to coach the junior players in the MiniRoos.
North West Queensland Soccer president, Jason Howard, said participants would become qualified to coach junior teams from the ages of six to 12.
“This is a great opportunity for people to learn the right skills from Brisbane based coaches,” he said.
“They have these types of clinics all the time on the coast but this is the first time it has been held in Mount Isa.
“I have been coaching for years but have never had the opportunity to take a coaching clinic, so I look forward to participating in the course.”
In conjunction, a MiniRoos player clinic will be held on January 24 for coaches to test out their new skills while also encouraging children to sign up for soccer before the season starts back up in early March.
“We love to have new players, weather they are all from one club or different clubs in town, it doesn’t matter,” Mr Howard said.
“Both of these clinics are free, usually costing $135 for coaching clinic and $90 for the MiniRoos clinic but all the costs are being waived.
“At this stage we are expecting 45 junior MiniRoos and seven coaches.
“If you’re interested you can register online at www.playfootball.com.au and it will tell you how to register for the coaching and player clinics.”
